Optimize aeration control with ammonium reduction

Detailed monitoring improves process performance

Nitrification, the first step in removing nitrogen, is monitored precisely through ammonium reduction. When process disturbances are recognized early on, the operator is able to react more quickly. Furthermore, advanced aeration control systems use oxygen and ammonium to optimize energy efficiency.

The typical requirements for the ammonium measurement are a reliable sensor with high repeatability, low maintenance and less consumables as well as easy handling of the instruments. Oxygen set-point adjustment is possible depending on process situation and ISE offers more than one parameter in one sensor. Furthermore you can optimize your life cycle costs due to reduced consumables costs.

Preferred instrumentation

  • Liquiline with ion-selective (ISE) sensor CAS40D

  • Alternative: Colorimetric analyzer CA80AM with sample preparation CAT860

Benefits of the measuring point

  • ISE: Inline measurement with less maintenance and no reagent costs

  • ISE: 2-parameter version available for NH4 and NO3

  • Analyzer: Measurement independent from other disturbing ions; comparable to lab testing

  • Analyzer: Efficient maintenance through automatic calibration and cleaning
